WHAT WE BELIEVE
The Word of God
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
2 Pet. 1:19-21 | Heb. 4:12 | 2 Tim. 3:15-17 | Rom. 15:4 | John 17:17
God
We believe that there is one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being. He is the eternal triune God, revealing His three persons to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being. He is infinite in holiness and perfection and reigns with all sovereignty as Creator, Ruler, and Redeemer of the universe.
Gen. 1:26 | Deut. 6:4 | John 1:1-5 | John 10:30 | Matt. 28:19 | 1 Cor. 12:4-6
God the Father
We believe in God the Father, who reigns providentially over the care and course of His creation. He is all knowing, all wise, all powerful, and all loving. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. He is fatherly in His attitude toward all men.
John 4:24 | John 14:6 | Rom. 8:14-15 | Rom. 1:20 | Rev. 4:11 | Jer. 10:10 | Acts 1:7
God the Son
We believe Jesus Christ is the incarnate Son, God in flesh, the only begotten from the Father, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in the Lordship of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, burial, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and personal visible return to earth.
John 3:16 | John 1:14 | 2 Cor. 5:21 | John 17:5 | Eph. 2:18 | Phil. 2:5-6 | Rom. 5:17 | Rom. 8:34 | Acts 1:11
God the Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment and to regenerate, sanctify and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide.
The Church
We believe a New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is a congregation of baptized believers who are associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel, observing the two ordinances of Christ, committed to His teachings, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word, and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. Its Scriptural officers are pastor/elders and deacons. The New Testament also speaks of the church as the body of Christ which includes all of the redeemed of all the ages.
Acts 2:41-42 | Matt. 16:18 | Matt. 18:15-20 | Matt. 28:19-20 | 1 Tim. 3:1-15 | Eph. 1:22-23
Christian Conduct
We believe that a Christian should live for the glory of God and the well being of his fellow men; that his conduct should be blameless before the world; that he should be a faithful steward of his possessions, and that he should seek to realize for himself and others the full stature of maturity in Christ.
1Cor. 10:31 | Eph. 4:15 | John 8:31 | 1 John 3:9 | 1 John 4:4 | Matt. 6:30-33 | Phil. 1:6 | Phil. 2:13 | Heb. 13:5
Ordinances
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water into the name of the triune God. We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death. We believe that those two ordinances should be observed and administrated until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Rom. 6:3-5 | Matt. 28:19 | 1 Cor. 11:23-26 | Mark 16:16 | Acts 2:38 | Acts 8:35-39 | Acts 16:32-34 | Acts 18:8
Religious Liberty
We believe that every human being has direct relations with God, and is responsible to God alone in all matters of faith; that this church is independent and will always seek to be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority; that therefore church and state must be kept separate as having different functions, each fulfilling its duties free from dictation or patronage of the other.
Rom. 14:12 | 1 Tim. 2:1-2 | Rom. 13:1-7 | Acts 4:19-20 | Matt. 22:21 | Phil. 3:20 | Jer. 29:7
The Last Things
We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgement, the eternal felicity of the righteous and endless suffering of the wicked.
